Another spring is looking us in the face.  Check your  garden and see if some changes need to be made.

Over time plants get too big, too woody, or just go bad and need to be replaced. Other plants just are meant to be replaced every few years.  Lavender is one plant that I find is often kept around too long. Some of the color perennials are meant as three year perennials and need to be replaced.

A trip to the nursery or a request for an on site consultation at $65 per hour can help.

I am proud to announce that for the sixth year in a row we were voted Modesto's FAVORITE NURSERY. I want to thank those who voted for us and the staff here that continuously works to make shopping here a more enjoyable experience.

On a different note I would like to tell our  readers  that my mother, Mary Rogers passed away this last November. She has been in failing health for a few years and her passing was not unexpected.

She and my father Sid started the Nursery in February I949. When you consider that their experience consisted of Sid's 15 years in the Merchant Marine and my mothers very occasional experience gardening at home, the family has to wonder how they had the nerve.

In the beginning, the business was a combination nursery, feed store and paint store together with a wholesale house plant operation growing 2 1/4" house plants.

Eventually the business evolved to a strictly retail nursery and garden center. Over the years it changed from a three person business to the business that employs over 40 people.  We will have some pictures of the old nursery displayed in the store for you to see.

Those of you who go back far enough to  remember when they were the face of Scenic Nursery will understand how much the family will miss them both.
