Daphne
is noted for being tempermental every where it is grown. I was talking
to one of my suppliers about daphne. He commented that when they quit
giving them acid and in fact went the other way and limed them they
started having much better success. Daphne is noted for the wonderfull
spring fragrance. If lime does make a difference
This tip comes with no guarantee but if you have been trying to get a daphne you might try it.

make is too much water, too much fertilizer, too much attention!
